Reflection #9
Prof. Joseph McNair

What is transformation? Transformation is the development from one thing to another, a good explain is when a tadpole transform into a frog. Transformation is not only about the physical features, but the way your mind develop while you mature. As we transform change within us is definitely an option, we sometimes forget about what we have done in the past so that we can have time for the future. Transforming from a baby into an adult is definitely a big change for some individuals; it can be hard at times.
In this article we learn the meaning for awareness, which is very hard to understand. Awareness is like a shock wave within your brain, it helps you to concentrate and develop your mental state of mind. It’s the way your brain or body works whether it’s in over drive or not; the awareness always gets the job done. There are two parts of awareness, consciousness and unconsciousness; consciousness is like the mastermind behind the mind. The unconsciousness is like the loss of awareness, meaning you could be brain dead.
Consciousness is more the awareness of the mind, it’s more alive than the unconsciousness. The consciousness is more use for medication during surgeries, because it helps the mind to stay focus and aware of what is going on within its surroundings. Most scientists use the consciousness because it’s more alive and responsive to operate with when conducting experiments. By reading the article I noticed that scientists know that there are more awareness rather than the consciousness. They don’t really know where they are but they know that there’s more that can favor their theories.
Unconsciousness is being partially aware of what is going on; it’s like being in a comatose stage. Not being able to interact with your surroundings, and basically living under life support. Your body isn’t functioning on its own; your body is getting and using a machine in order for you to stay alive. You can be in this stage for a long period of time, and this can affect your mental stage for good. Unconsciousness is like sleeping but the only thing is that you never know when you may wake up from it.
This article was kind of confusing, because there isn’t too much findings on awareness and how it performs and how much you can learn from it. It’s like a mystery; you never know when your consciousness and unconsciousness may kick in and out. I didn’t really understand it, like how it function and complete different tasks. I only understood the parts of awareness because I heard and studied them before.
Scientists should research more on the unconsciousness so that we as humans can understand why the brain just shuts down when it wants to and how it wants to. These findings will help us to understand why the brain is considered to be the power house of the body.
